If you have pets or kids, you probably get spots on your carpet nearly every week. If you are sick of using elbow grease to get them out, you can spend $40 and let the Bissell 1719 SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Cleaner Carpet Cleaner  have a try at it.

Bissell 1719B SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Cleaner Specifications:

  • Type of Vacuum: Portable Deep Cleaner
  • Power: 9.6 volts
  • Cleaning Path: 7 inches wide
  • Attachments: None
  • Warranty: Limited one year warranty

To make it perfectly clear, this machine is going to be good at getting out spots from carpet or rugs. If you have bigger areas that you want to clean, this is definitely not going to be the machine that you want. With a 7 inch wide nozzle for cleaning, you are going to get concentrated cleaning.

Another plus to the Bissell 1719 SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Cleaner Carpet Cleaner is that it is cordless. You can take it out to the car and get that peanut butter and jelly sandwich mess out of the car upholstery or do just about anywhere. You won’t have to run an extension cord anymore, because you can just take the whole machine where you want. It only weighs 6 pounds, making it really transportable. The battery on this Bissell portable deep cleaner can run for 15 minutes on a charge, so you are going to be able to get a pretty big spot out.

“Battery life is excellent — we have used this cleaner several times over the past few weeks and still have yet to recharge the battery (the instructions recommend recharging only after the battery runs down to maximize battery life).”

There are some problems with the Bissell 1719 SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Cleaner Carpet Cleaner (some of them that you would expect from a machine that costs less than fifty dollars). The first is that it is difficult to put in the water tanks. You need to place them perfectly in order to get them to snap in place.

The second thing is that if you forget to empty the dirty water container often enough, dirty water is going to shoot out the vents of the cleaner. Do this often enough and you aren’t going to be able to use this deep cleaner for very long. The problem is made worse by the size of the containers. Here is what one Amazon.com reviewer says about this problem.

“Water does spit out of the motor vents WHEN the dirty water container is full (which is less than an inch in this thing).”

Is The SpotLifter Really Worth It?

Even though it has a price tag of $40, the Bissell 1719 SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Cleaner Carpet Cleaner may not be worth it. You are probably just going to want to clean spots with a bit of cleaner, a bucket or water and a towel to blot out the excess water.

Leather is one of those materials that looks great no matter what you make with it. Whether you have a leather couch, a leather jacket, leather pants, leather boots, or anything else, it is a classy, timeless material that is durable, comfortable, and stylish. But, make no mistake, it needs certain care to last long and look good.

All leather is not created equal, however. If you need to clean leather, then you first need to figure out what kind of leather you are dealing with. Finished leather and brushed leather require vastly different care!

If you are trying to spot clean a leather couch, a soft rag with soap and water works well. But wait! There’s more….if your leather is dark-colored, then be careful to use distilled water—regular old tap water usually has chlorine in it, and may cause some discoloration on the spots you clean. A gentle soap, such as a dish detergent will work well.

A leather jacket may be made of more supple leather, and therefore more delicate material. Most leather jackets, boots, purses, or other accessories are best cleaned using a commercial leather cleaner or dry cleaning. Don’t risk damaging your expensive items by careless cleaning.

Brushed leathers, unfinished leather, and suede items need even more special care. Commercial cleaners and a soft brush will take out most stains and dirt, when carefully used.

A little bit of tender, loving care will help keep your leather items looking good for many years. Take the time to find out what you are dealing with, and how to properly care for it!
