Electrolux used to be known for making quality vacuum cleaners.  But since they got bought out by Eureka, the quality of the vacuum cleaners has been in question.

How do you know whether or not the Electrolux EL6988D Oxygen3 Canister Vacuum Cleaner that you are considering is going to be a good deal or not? Here’s a guide to getting some of the best Electrolux canister vacuums out there – Electrolux’s Oxygen line of vacuum cleaners.

What is different about a lot of Electrolux canister vacuums is that they have a lot of features that you expect expensive vacuum cleaners to have.

One line of vacuums that Electrolux sells is the Oxygen line. For example, the Electrolux EL6988D Oxygen3 Canister Vacuum Cleaner.  These vacuums are meant to clean the air in your home as well as the floor, but you may be wondering whether or not these vacuums are worth it.

There are several different models in the Oxygen line, including:

  • Electrolux EL6988D
  • Electrolux EL6989A
  • Electrolux EL7025
  • Electrolux EL7020
  • EL7000

Each of these different models is going to be slightly different and designed for different types of cleaning but all are going to have the same goal: to clean your air and keep the dust and dirt in the vacuum cleaner.

With the Oxygen and Electrolux EL6988D Oxygen3 Canister Vacuum Cleaner, you are going to be able to smell a difference in the air because of the HEPA filters and MicroSeal technology that are incorporated into all of these vacuum cleaners.

Gone are the days when you would dust and vacuum your house only to have it dusty again so soon because all of the dust that got sucked up went through the machine, out of the exhaust and back into the air, only to settle a couple of hours later.

So, what are the different models of Electrolux Oxygen vacuum cleaners? And how do you know which one is great for your home? Each one is designed for a different type of flooring to get the job done quickly and easily.  The only thing that you have to decide is whether or not these vacuums are still worth the steep price tag that they carry.

For example, the EL7000 is going to be a great vacuum for hard floors and low pile carpet and rugs. The EL7025 comes with two different heads, one for hard flooring and one for carpet, meaning that you are going to get a deeper clean when you are cleaning rugs.

With Electrolux vacuum cleaners, you are going to get a deep clean, but you are also going to experience a deep clean in the air, too, which will make vacuuming a healthy thing to do for you and your family.

Electrolux vacuum cleaners are usually going to be great machines because they are designed to last a long time and engineered for vacuuming. The vast majority of Elextrolux’s vacuum cleaners are canister vacuums, making the Electrolux EL 6989 Ultra Oxygen Canister Vacuum  a smart buy.

Electrolux EL6989A Oxygen Ultra Clean Canister Vacuum Specifications:

  • Type of Vacuum: Canister
  • Power: 1400 watts
  • Cleaning Path: 14 inches
  • Filter: O2 filter system with HEPA 13 filtration
  • Dust Collection: 2 quart dust bag
  • Attachments: Upholstery tool, dusting brush, hard floor tool and crevice tool
  • Warranty: Two year warranty

A vacuum is supposed to be easy to use, and the Electrolux EL 6989A  is going to be easy. What makes this vacuum easier is that it is going to tell you if it needs any maintenance. There is both a full bag light  and a filter change light which means you won’t have to open the canister and look for yourself (or have to shake the bag to tell whether it is full or not).

The Electrolux EL 6989 Ultra Oxygen Canister Vacuum is called the Oxygen Ultra Clean because of the complex filter system. With a HEPA 13 filter, you aren’t going to have to worry about dust coming back out of the machine. It will all go into the dust bag and stay there.

What is great about this top-of-the-line vacuum cleaner is that you are able to adjust the speed of the motor, making it easy to clean an expensive rug that is more fragile than your carpet, without damaging it.

Most canister vacuums are going to only work on hard flooring, but the Electrolux is able to work on carpet and rugs too because of the brush roll.

Here is what one Amazon.com reviewer had to say about her Electrolux, in general.

“Generally, the Oxygen is small and maneuverable. It makes short work of my floors, and I can quickly move between the tile and carpet.”

There are some things that you would hope that a nearly $400 vacuum cleaner would improve on. The first thing that you won’t like is the 20 foot cord. With such a short cord, you are going to end up unplugging the cleaner a lot.

A two year warranty also seems a bit short for such an expensive vacuum cleaner. If you are afraid of your vacuum cleaner not lasting long, you might want to check out machines that have a longer warranty.

The third thing that annoys some reviewers is that the bags and belts are difficult to find. You are probably going to end up buying them online, which means that you are going to have to be prepared and have some in your house.

“Did I mention that you can only get bags for the Ultra through Electrolux, and that the bags have to be shipped to you?”

Will The Ultra Clean Be Your Dream Machine?

The answer is probably not. Unless you are really a fan of Electrolux vacuum cleaners or have really bad allergies or asthma, you are probably not going to find that the Electrolux EL 6989A  machine is the best deal.
