Do you always buy your vacuums based on the brand name? Some brand names are more trustworthy than others.
When you hear the Electrolux name, you are probably going to think that their vacuums are going to last for a long time, be a good deal, have great suction and an excellent design. Does the Oxygen 3 Upright Vacuum have all of that?

Electrolux makes things confusing. There is an Electrolux Oxygen Canister (model EL6988D) and now the Oxygen 3 (model EL5035A) is an upright vacuum.
With most vacuums, the review begins by stating all of the great things about it. However, with the Oxygen 3, stating all of the great things is difficult, because there aren’t that many of them.
The first problem with the machine is that the wheel is designed very poorly. If you look at review after review, you are going to see that the wheels are constantly breaking off because they are attached by a thin piece of plastic.
Here is what one reviewer went through with his Oxygen 3.
Within a few months, the wheel broke off and I took it to the nearest service shop for repair. [...] Several months later, the new wheel broke off again, so I took it back for an additional repair. The opposite wheel has now broken off, so I will likely find a new vacuum to purchase.
A second problem is that for being made out of plastic, the vacuum is too heavy. At 31 pounds, you are going to be wondering whether they made it difficult to push (or carry up a flight of stairs) on purpose.
With 1440 watts of power, you are going to think that it should be pretty easy to clean your carpet. The suction on this machine gets mixed reviews. Either way, a vacuum that costs nearly $400 should not get such bad results.
It doesn’t suck up a thing…Sometimes I’ll go over a splinter on the carpet 5 or 6 times before giving up and picking it up by hand.
What this vacuum is good for is those who suffer from allergies or asthma. The HEPA filter in this is sealed, and the air coming out of the machine is going to be free from the vast majority of dust and dirt that goes into the machine.
I bought this vacuum because my daughter has bad allergies and I wanted to avoid any dust escaping from the vacuum. For this purpose, I am very pleased – it’s great.
The Oxygen Is Just A Bunch Of Hot Air
Is the Electrolux Oxygen recommended? The answer is a definite “no”. It is expensive, poorly built and is going to make vacuuming a nightmare.
Instead, look into the Dyson DC07, which is a little more expensive, but gets great reviews and has a lot of nifty features.
