Do you hate pushing your vacuum around? If so, you might need a self-propelled vacuum cleaner, which is going to help you do the hard work. A self-propelled vacuum is going to allow you to vacuum even the thickest of carpets without straining so much.

The Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel is going to make vacuuming easier, but is it going to be worth the $200 price tag?

Hoover U6439-900 WindTunnel Vacuum Specifications:

  • Type of Vacuum: Upright
  • Power: 1440 Amps
  • Filter: Allergen filtration with HEPA filter
  • Cleaning Path: 15 inches wide
  • Dust Collection: Easy empty dirt cup
  • Attachments: On-board stretch hose, powered hand tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush, crevice tool and two extension wands
  • Warranty: One year warranty

With a three star rating on Amazon.com, you might want to think twice about buying this machine, especially since the Hoover U6439-900 costs more than $200. What you will love about the Hoover Self-Propelled Ultra Upright Vacuum is the self propelled feature. This makes vacuuming easier.

That ends the list of the good things about the Self Propelled Ultra. There are a lot of reviewers on Amazon.com talk about how they absolutely need this feature, because the vacuum is so heavy.

Speaking of heavy, the Hoover WindTunnel is top heavy and is prone to tipping over. When it does tip over, it is going to scatter all of the on-board tools all over the floor, making you stop what you are doing and then take the time to pick them up and put them back in place.

The Hoover Self Propelled Vacuum Cleaner is going to make the claim that it can clean close to walls, and this is partially true. It will clean up well if you can get it close to the walls to clean.  However, the machine is really bulky and it is difficult to maneuver. Getting it under a table or chair is going to be nearly impossible.

Another thing that is going to bug you about this machine is that it is really loud. Taking the machine to the repair shop is not going to fix this, it’s just a noise that you are going to have to live with. To temporarily fix this noise, you are going to have to change the two belts on the vacuum, and the noise should stop for about 5 minutes.

If Hoover had a conscience, they would throw in ear-plugs ! 75 years, and Hoover still can’t make a quieter motor.

Finally, you are going to not like the fact that knobs are constantly falling off the machine. Made almost out of plastic, this vacuum is not all that durable.

Is The Self Propel Feature Enough?

For the price and the features of the Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra Upright Vacuum Cleaner, you are probably going to want to find another vacuum cleaner that does the job.

Dirt Devil 084505 Extreme Quick Vac Review

Dirt Devil M084505 Extreme Quick Upright Vacuum Cleaner
  Manufacturer: Dirt Devil
  Model: M084505
  Overall Rating:

  Reviews:7
  Retail Price: $69.99

Vacuum cleaners are getting cheaper and cheaper every year. This isn’t necessarily a good thing, because sometimes quality is sacrificed.

At less than $60, the Dirt Devil M084505 is an inexpensive bagless upright vacuum cleaner, but is it also cheap?

Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Upright Vacuum Cleaner Specification:

  • Type of Vacuum: Upright
  • Model: M084505
  • Power: 1220 Watts
  • Filter: HEPA filtration
  • Dust Collection: Easy empty dirt cup
  • Attachments: On-board hose, upholstery tool, dusting brush and crevice tool
  • Warranty: Two year warranty

You might not expect much from such a cheap vacuum, but you are definitely going to be surprised.

The first thing that is going to shock you is that such an inexpensive machine has a HEPA filter. If you don’t think that a HEPA filter is important, just wait until you have to vacuum your house with the windows closed. Then you are going to be able to tell whether or not your vacuum has a HEPA filter.

The Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Bagless is also very easy to use. You won’t have to mess around to empty the dirt cup. And because it has a dirt cup instead of a bag, you won’t have to invest any more money into this vacuum cleaner. One reviewer said these positive things about this vacuum.

“More cleaning power than expected. Easy clean of dirt cup.”

This vacuum is light enough that it is going to be a great tool in cleaning. At less than 14 pounds, you are going to be able to carry this vacuum up and down stairs easily, which makes it great for a townhouse or any house that has carpet on both floors.

The next reason that this vacuum is a steal is because it comes with a 2 year warranty. There aren’t that many sub-$100 vacuums that offer such a long warranty period.

On-board tools are going to be a plus for any vacuum, because it makes them easier to use. The Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Bagless Upright makes short work of your vacuuming with these tools.

Sure, with other vacuums you are going to get more tools, but for the price, you can always find the tools that you want and purchase them separately.

What you might not like about this vacuum is that it feels a bit cheap. It might just be because it is so light, but the vacuum might not live as long as you would want a vacuum to last.

However, if you calculate it out, the vacuum is going to cost less than $30 a year if it only lasts for the two year warranty period.

Is This Dirt Devil Extreme Enough?

For the value, you aren’t going to find a better deal for a normal sized upright vacuum than the Dirt Devil M084505 Extreme. In fact, buying a decent hand vac or stick vac is going to set you back this much money.
