The Hoover Savvy U8174-900 vacuum falls on the inexpensive side of the scale which makes it attractive to a lot of people who don’t want to spend a lot of money on a vacuum cleaner.
It has a lot of features that those buying a vacuum cleaner might look for: it’s bagless, has a tool for pet hair, it has a DirtFinder light that tells you when your carpet is clean and there is a HEPA filter to keep dust, pollen and dirt out of the air. You may be wondering if a cheap vacuum cleaner is going to stand up to everyday cleaning.
The Hoover Savvy is a throw-away vacuum, and you are probably not going to waste your money on it.

The first major problem with the Savvy is that it is prone to breaking down. For example, the belt on it is supposed to last the life of vacuum cleaner, but several users reported it breaking within the first month of use .

The vacuum features DirtFinder technology that is going to tell you if your carpet is clean or not using a series of red and green lights. That would be a really great feature to have if it worked properly.

There are also constant problems with the motor and electronics. In short, the Savvy is going to not even last the length of time you would expect from a cheap vacuum cleaner.

The one positive thing about Savvy is that it has a HEPA filter that traps 100% of dust mites, ragweed and common grass pollens. This is going to be great if you suffer from allergies.

“It has a neat sensor on it that is red and says dirty and then changes to a green light saying “clean.” I’ve found the light changes to “clean” when it is no longer picking up anything. I first thought it was silly, but it’s actually quite useful: the carpet is never actually cleaned as soon as I think it should be.”
Being Money Savvy
If you want a Hoover, the Windtunnel is only going to be about fifty dollars more, but it’s going to be a better bet than the Hoover Savvy vacuum.
If you aren’t necessarily looking for a Hoover, any other vacuum cleaner would probably be a better match.
