You may have heard only good things about Dyson vacuum cleaners, but there seems to be an exception to the rule that they are some of the best machines out there…that exception is the Dyson DC05.
Like other Dyson cleaners, the DC05 also has a clear dust container. James Dyson designed the vacuum to have a clear container so that you could see how well the machine was working to clean your flooring, so that you 
always knew when it was full and so that you could find lost earrings or other objects easily.
Unlike the vast majority of Dyson cleaners, which are upright vacuum cleaners, the Dyson DC05 is a canister vacuum.
The same technology went into designing this cleaner as the upright cleaners, with over 15 years of trial and error and over 5000 different prototypes from James Dyson, the Dyson cleaner was born. It uses the same cyclonic suction as the upright cleaners, which means that you will never lose suction, even if the dust container is full.
Because it is a canister vacuum the Dyson DC05 is going to be different. It weights less than 5 kilograms, meaning that it is really light and portable. If you have struggled to clean stairs or hard to reach areas because your vacuum cleaner is too heavy, you won’t have to struggle anymore.

So, is the Dyson DC05 for you? If you want a Dyson and only want a canister vacuum then go for it and get this one. If you want a canister vacuum and don’t care what brand it is, go for another vacuum.

Because there are some problems with the DC05 that make it less than ideal.
Why are other Dyson vacuum cleaners so great, when this one falls short? The answer is in the cleaning head. Because of the design, a lot of people find that they spend more time cleaning hair out of the beater bar than they do actually vacuuming.
Users have reported having the head clog with hair the first time that they use it and taking over an hour to clean.
One reviewer had this to say:
The motorised head is useless. Long hair gets wrapped around it, and when you dismantle (to spend at least an hour trying to clean it as the hair blocks the passage for anything else to be picked up) you cant put it back together. I had to replace the parts, only for the hair to block it up again.
Another problem is that the attachments are stored on the machine’s wand. The attachments seem to get in the way while you are vacuuming. Here is what one reviewer had to say about this problem:
The attachments repeatedly bang your legs as you vacuum and I’ve noticed today that the wire is splitting. A friend asked if I would recommend it after seeing mine, I have advised her to buy another type of Dyson but certainly not this particular model.
Dyson vacuums are usually so reliable, but the DC05 is not going to be one that you want to choose.
